Ever wonder WHY drinks taste bad right after brushing your teeth?

Then you know the feeling, that awful taste in your mouth! Mental_floss’s article explains that, you can thank SLES/SLS for that. Sodium laureth sulfate, sometimes known as; sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES) and sodium laurl sulfate (SLS), are chemicals that are added to toothpaste to create foam, which makes brushing easier.

So what about these chemicals makes drinking and eating so disgusting directly after brushing? Well, these chemicals mess with our taste buds. They surpress our taste bud receptors for sweetness and break up phospholipids in our tongue, which help keep bitterness at  bay.
So what does this all mean? Well, if you eat or drink right after brushing your teeth, you’re going to taste less sweetness than normal and more bitterness than normal. You have a few options here; go with an SLES/SLS-free toothpaste or wait a little longer to eat or drink after you brush!

Which celebrity do YOU think has the best smile?

Jealous of those celebrities perfect smiles? Celebrities may seem like they have perfect teeth, but it’s important to note that, like the rest of us, they weren’t born with perfect teeth!

If a true celebrity smile is what you are looking for, the secret is veneers! Veneers are thin pieces of tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made for your mouth! All Brite Dental usually requires just two visits to complete the process.

Are Sports Drinks Bad For Teeth?

A new study shows that sports and energy drinks contain a high acidity level. The acid eats away at the outer layer of enamel, causing serious, irreversible damage. The damage to the enamel leaves the teeth more prone to cavities.

It is recommended to chew sugar-free gum or rinse your mouth out when finished with a sports or
energy drink. Doing so will help increase saliva, which helps to return the acidity level back to normal.

Do you drink sports or energy drinks regularly? Are you worried about your teeth? Stop by All Brite
Dental for a checkup and cleaning today!  Let us know what you think about popular sports drinks harming your teeth on our Facebook page, Linked Here!
