Sour Candy Is Almost As Bad For Your Teeth As Battery Acid!
Do
you have a sweet tooth? Are you starting
to get a number of cavities? There's a
good possibly that the cavities you are getting now are from eating all that
sour candy when you were a kid. Recent
studies have shown that the pH scale levels of many sour candies can be
very harmful, and even wear down your tooth enamel. The pH scale is a scientific way to measure
the acidity or alkalinity of water soluble substances. The pH value is numbered from 1 to 14; with 7
being the middle neutral point (Water is a 7). The way the pH scale works is, 1 is the most acidic and 14 is the
least. On the right is a chart showing the
different pH levels of the most popular sour candies. As you can see, battery acid is the most
acidic at a 1 pH value.
In
addition to this scary information, it’s important to understand that tooth
enamel doesn’t grow back! The body
designed tooth enamel as the hardest substance in the human body in order to
protect your teeth from wearing down.
Sour candy is unhealthy for your overall being due to the problems they
may cause in the future.
