Have You Tried Laser Dentistry?

Are you interested in Laser Dentistry? Over the past couple of years, laser dentistry has become increasingly more and more popular. There are many benefits associated with laser dentistry, especially for those individuals who have a fear of dental work and of being in pain.

At All Brite Dental, we are all about helping you maintain and achieve the smile you desire and deserve! We have three specific types of lasers that are used.

The Diagnodent Laser is a cavity detector. This harmless laser finds cavities in their earliest stages by using a healthy tooth in your mouth, that has no fillings or cavities and uses it as a baseline or zero reading.  The laser compares the amount of flourescence/chaulkiness (breakdown of enamel due to acid) in the groove of each tooth to the baseline tooth. By catching the cavity early enough you only have to remove a little bit of tooth structure to place the filling.  Traditional methods of detecting cavities, the pointy tooth explorer , detected cavities much later thus sacrificing more tooth structure.

The second type of laser is The Waterlase MD, which is for hard/soft tissue. This is a laser that energizes water droplets to remove and cut tooth structure and gum tissue without anesthesia, in most cases, with no pain or numbness after!  All the patient feels is a fine water mist. The laser better prepares the tooth surface for a tooth colored (bonded) filling increasing the bond strength by 50%. In addition, the lasers pinpoint accuracy allows us to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible.  Many orthodontic and periodontal (gum) surgeries can be performed without shots , little or no bleeding and no pain afterwards with faster healing time! Furthermore the laser works miracles on those annoying cold sores in the mouth and lips by instantly stopping the pain and healing up twice as fast. The chance of recurrence of the cold sore in the same spot is virtually nil. This patient had several fillings performed by the Waterlase.   He had not been to the dentist in 10 years and was deadly afraid. He left that same day in amazement and excitement that he did not get the shot for such big cavities and experienced no pain or numbness after.  He actually said he had fun!

And the third and final type of laser is The Diolase-Plus. This laser is primarily used by the hygienist to decontaminate gum pockets and treat gum disease with incredible results.  In the past it took years for gum pockets to shrink  now with this laser it takes just months ,with proper home care,  in most cases.
